About the Creative Arts Program Coordinator, Carri Ann Wantuchowicz
Every person can probably remember a pivotal moment or experience from childhood when they discovered their passion. For Cook Children’s Creative Arts Program Coordinator Carri Ann Wantuchowicz, it was a vacation in Rome, Italy.
“The trip my family took to Rome made a huge impact on my in many ways. It was a truly beautiful, fascinating place with such a rich culture and ancient history,” said Carri Ann. “I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to live abroad while I was growing up. Traveling allowed me to experience art, architecture and culture first-hand.”
Carri Ann feels strongly about the therapeutic value of art because it lets patients express their feelings throughout their healing process. “I greatly appreciate the freedom children display when creating art. They are highly imaginative and open to the art making experience. Patients of all ages and capabilities can benefit from exploring the arts. I’m excited to play a role in bringing this enrichment to their lives,” said Carri Ann.
Carri Ann received a degree in art history from the University of Texas in Arlington and continued graduate studies in art history at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Her concentration was modern and contemporary art, which led her to take a position at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth where she managed marketing and media relations.
In the year ahead, the program will continue to explore new venues to display patient’s art work by seeking collaborative relationships in the community. “My goal is to spread awareness of our healing arts program and help it reach its maximum potential for changing lives,” said Carri Ann.
